Mr. Samir K Modi, Founder and Managing Director of Modicare Limited is an intuitive entrepreneur, constantly striving to introduce new and radical ideas and transform lives. He is also the Managing Director of Modi Enterprises – a USD 2 Billion conglomerate – founded in 1933 by his grandfather, Rai Bahadur Gujarmal Modi.

An alumnus of Harvard Business School, Mr Modi’s stint in the US has imbued him with a global perspective and a multicultural approach to work. During his overseas stay, the success of Indians worldwide amazed him. Conversely, he witnessed Indians struggling in their own country. This led him to believe that the major barrier was capital investment and the only way to replicate such success in India was via financial independence. Recognising the immense potential of Direct Selling, he decided to launch his own Direct Selling Company and give AZADI to all Indians.

Continuing his family tradition of nation-building at the youthful age of 25, in March 1996 Mr Modi launched India’s first Direct Selling Company, Modicare. Modicare is one of the leading Direct Selling Companies in India that is transforming the lives of millions of Indians and clocking strong momentum The Modicare Azadi Movement is creating a revolution and lakhs of people are joining Modicare every month.

He is strongly driven by his personal philosophy of “Soch Badlo, Khudko Badlo, Duniya Badlo” that remains instrumental in his success as a visionary and a thought leader. Mr Modi also believes in ‘Meraki’, a Greek expression that means, “Whatever you do, do it with love and creativity.” Indeed, these are his guiding principles that underline his success as a visionary and a thought leader. .

Understanding contemporary consumer behaviour and trends in the Indian cosmetic products category, he established Colorbar Cosmetics in 2004 to rival international brands. Today, it is the third-largest cosmetics brand in an industry dominated by international giants. As the Founder & Managing Director, Mr Modi’s approach has been instrumental in expanding its retail footprints globally.

Another brainchild of Mr Modi is the 24Seven Convenience Stores – India’s first-of-its-kind, round-the-clock convenience retail chain, launched in 2005. Currently, it has more than 100 stores in Delhi-NCR, Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula. He is the Founder & President of 24Seven Convenience Stores.

He also shouldered the responsibility of continuing his family’s philanthropic tradition by setting up the Modicare Foundation in 1996. The Foundation undertakes extensive work in HIV/AIDS Awareness and gender-related issues while working proactively for children’s education. Mr Modi serves as the Founder and Vice-Chairman of Modicare Foundation.

In November 2018, Mr Modi took over as President of the Confederation of Asia Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CACCI). He also serves as a member of the FICCI National Executive Committee, FICCI Steering Committee and NACS Asia Pacific Committee (National Association of Convenience Stores).

He serves on the board of a few other organisations in several capacities, which include, Executive Director, Godfrey Phillips India Ltd & Director, Indofil Industries Ltd.
